Panic sets in over plate change

WITH less than two months to go until the new format number plates become law, it has been interesting speaking to new car dealers and seeing how much they understand about it. Only about 10% could explain in any detail how it is going to work, with the majority not understanding it at all.

And at a contract hire and leasing seminar last week, just over 20% of the industry's leading figures were conversant with the system. This shows a lack of understanding throughout the industry and many believe the public is still unaware of the change.

Many retail and fleet end users still think the letter change is in August. But once they do realise their new cars will look different, a mad rush can be expected at new car dealers.
