CAR distribution company Richard Lawson Autologistics has launched a new division that will deliver cars with the same punctuality as parcel delivery firms deliver packages. Called Evolution2, it will target fleets, car rental and leasing companies, franchised dealerships, car supermarkets, auction houses and internet-based car companies that require a 'fast, flexible and efficient timed car delivery service'. E2 general manager Frank Straetmans said: 'Traditional car delivery services, built around long-term contracts and shifting large volumes of cars from manufacturers to ports, have become too inflexible especially for dealer to dealer deliveries. We will be able to guarantee the delivery of one or a number of cars from a specified location on the British mainland to another location at a guaranteed time.' For customers requiring a complete 'support service' package, E2 will also work closely with sister company Autocare, that refurbishes cars, operates vehicle processing centres with body and paint shops and carries out pre-delivery and inspection checks on vehicles. Launched last week, E2 has two centres in the UK, one at Thurleigh, north of Bedford, and the other near Glasgow. By the end of this year E2 plans to have transported 30,000 cars and has already signed deals with BCA and The Lancaster Group.
