Corn extract helps Goodyear improve tyres

GOODYEAR has invented an environmentally-friendly tyre that contains extracts of corn, and helps improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Called BioTRED, organic derivatives from maize take the place of silica and carbon black in the construction of the tyre.

Goodyear claims its new GT3 summer tyre with BioTRED technology can decrease fuel consumption by 5%, and emissions by 7.7g/km, compared to the GT2 because of less rolling resistance.
