Gdansk buy gives GMAC eastern europe platform

THE parent company of Interleasing UK has bought a car leasing and fleet management company in Gdansk, Poland. General Motors Acceptance Corporation, the financial services subsidiary of General Motors, has acquired Futura Leasing and its subsidiary Prime Car Management for an undisclosed sum.

The Polish company has a 2,500-strong fleet and is number three in the Polish full service leasing market. Len Clayton, chief executive GMAC Global Full Service Leasing, said: 'This new acquisition allows GMAC to enter the rapidly-growing full service leasing market in Poland with a professional, established local management team and an efficient existing platform.'

He described the acquisition as a key strategic move, with Poland set to join the European Union, and said the Polish operation would serve as a platform for further expansion in Central and Eastern Europe. GMAC and its Masterlease and Interleasing subsidiaries also has operations in the UK, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Australia.
