SIXTEEN fleets and management companies are trialling a new extranet website from the RAC that allows them to retrieve vital management information online. The password-protected site will go live early next year, powered by a new software package called Business Objects.

Blackwell Book Services, Bowater Windows and Network Insurance Services are among the companies piloting the system that offers access to company-specific breakdown policy information 24 hours a day, seven days a week, where previously they would have relied on written reports. Employers will also be able to add vehicles to their RAC agreement on screen and if the vehicle is entered by 4pm, it will be covered from 3am the next day. It will also automatically archive fleet information.

RAC director of fleet Simon Cashmore, said: 'This type of flexibility will improve administration efficiencies for customers and the RAC alike and forms part of an extensive IT programme.'
