ENVIRONMENTALLY-CONSCIOUS fleets in France can now include a Renault Laguna LPG on their choice lists.

The car is the latest to join the French manufacturer's fleet of LPG-powered cars.

Renault said: 'More than ever, Renault affirms its determination to participate in the LPG market, and thus to confirm its pro-active stance in environmental matters.'

Since last year, Renault has developed a new range of LPG vehicles in response to the introduction of exhaust emission regulations. Its range consists of the Twingo 1.2, car and van, Clio 1.2 car and van, Kangoo and Kangoo Express 1.2, Megane Estate 1.6 and Scenic 1.6.

It has increased the range with the launch of the Laguna 1.6V LPG and Laguna Sport Tourer 1.6 16V LPG.

Like other engines in the Renault range, the Laguna's is equipped with a new gaseous LPG injection system. A decision has yet to be made whether or not the car comes to the UK.

Renault said its technological developments of the LPG car have resulted in 'significant improvements in driving pleasure, efficiency and emissions, so that a level of quality and a specification identical to that of traditional vehicles can be achieved.'.

The tank is installed beneath the rear floor and the vehicle has a range of about 600 kilometres. Tax paid prices in for the four different versions of the 1.6 LPG car range from 20,450 Euros to 23,700 Euros.
