FLEET decision-makers have been left in the dark about future changes to the carbon dioxide-based company car tax regime once the current three-year plan ends in 2005. Drivers taking on new cars between now and April on typical three-year plans will still be in their vehicles when any extension or changes to the taxation regime are announced.

They can only guess that the current policy of lowering the emissions level that qualifies for the minimum 15% tax rating will continue, despite a Government commitment to providing early information about new taxes.
