A USED car expert claims a dedicated auction for liquefied petroleum gas powered cars would measure how used car buyers feel about them.

CAP national research manager Martin Ward says he has started discussions with the industry about holding a sale to get a clearer picture of how the market views alternatively-fuelled vehicles. He said: 'The market needs a special LPG auction, where the leasing industry can offer for sale some of its LPG vehicles – restricted in this case to cars only.'

He commented that remarketing companies and LPG vehicle manufacturers could also supply stock. 'I am not talking particularly large numbers but such a sale would be highly revealing and maybe encourage the establishment of these vehicles on the used market.

'Everyone I have spoken to welcomes the idea of a dedicated sale. In fact the response from BCA has been more than positive, declaring that it would be happy to play host and advertise it to its buyers.'
