GE Capital Fleet Services has unveiled a suite of three new internet-based fleet services that it will start to roll out across Europe.

The leasing and fleet management giant claims that e-Fleet, e-Driver and e-Quote will bring enormous efficiencies to customers.

e-Fleet is a web-based fleet reporting tool that allows fleet operators to interrogate data on their fleets and create bespoke and scheduled reports in real time.

The system is already live in France, and will be progressively introduced to other GECFS European operations. Its multi-lingual capabilities and common functionality allow fleet operators to investigate their fleets in other countries.

Stephen Tasker, GECFS UK director of product management, said e-Fleet would not be free for customers, but that it would deliver significant productivity gains and efficiency savings.

e-Driver gives company vehicle drivers online access to a selection of driver services, thereby avoiding the need for drivers to contact their fleet manager. Information available via e-Driver includes future product information, the status of current orders, details of when and how a vehicle's next road tax disc will be issued by GECFS, instructions on how to order replacement fuel and fleet cards, and information on European travel requirements.

The third element of the new internet programme is e-Quote, a web-enabled quote-to-order system for fleet operators.

GECFS promises more internet-based innovations in the near future, and evidence from the United States indicates the scale of efficiencies that the web can deliver.

Rick Smith, president and chief executive officer of GECFS, said: 'This year alone our automated fleet management system, Your Office @ Fleet, will help eliminate more than 600,000 pages of mailed invoices and reports to our customers. The online functionality is driving our customers' productivity to unprecedented levels.' (July 2000)
