ONE of the UK's major leasing brokers, Corporate & Business Vehicle Contracts, has installed fleet software from Chevin Computer Systems to improve customer service levels.

The RoadBASE Contract Management system is aimed at giving the firm greater control over its assets and speeding up its reaction to changing market conditions.

CBVC managing director Michael Manners said: 'We are now seeing major leasing companies modifying their rates rapidly because of factors such as sinking residual values and the often confusing effects of promotions, such as special servicing deals from manufacturers.'

Previously, CBVC used a customised version of a general purpose database system to manage its customer records, which it said generated a great deal of paperwork and left a lot of gaps in operational procedures. The RoadBASE package carries out functions ranging from maintaining individual customer records to managing servicing and other incidentals, including hire cars, accidents and P11D information.

Manners said: 'The system processes orders, sends out introductory letters to drivers, contacts suppliers and generally automates the day-to-day operation.'
