Ford has announced prices for the new Fiesta, which goes on sale from April 5, promising increased specification and lower insurance ratings against out-going models.

At entry level, the new Fiesta Finesse 1.3 has more than £750 extra standard equipment over the old model.

All models come with CD player, driver and passenger airbags, central locking, fully adjustable steering column, leather steering wheel, smart wipers, driver's seat height adjustment, remote tailgate release, five three-point belts, Intelligent Protection System and 60/40 splitting rear seats.

LX models add a Quickclear heated front windscreens and electric front windows. The Zetec models are all shod with 15-inch wheels, front fog lights and electric front windows.

Ghia models have more than £800 of kit as standard, including ABS, remote central locking, air conditioning - a saving of £265 over the retiring Ghia 1.25-litre model.
