PEUGEOT used the CV show to give Britain a first look at its new Boxer van, which it claims is more comfortable than its predecessor, as well as having more cargo space.

The company, buoyant after seeing van sales up 6% to 5.7% total market share in a sector up 3% overall so far this year, believes the new Boxer will prove a hit due to its many in-cab innovations and Peugeot's strong diesel engine line-up.

Priced from £12,400 to £19,580, Peugeot is offering a three year/100,000 mile warranty on the Boxer, for the first time on any of its commercial vehicle products.

The cab features fully adjustable seats and steering wheel with rake adjustment, a first in its class, Peugeot claims. Interior noise has also been reduced through extra sound deadening.

The van now comes with 2.0-litre 87bhp and 2.2-litre 100bhp HDi engines that have seen service in the firm's car line-up, as well as a 2.8-litre 127bhp unit. There is also a 2.0-litre petrol motor, lined up to attract customers from the lucrative motorhome market.

In total, there are 140 versions of the vehicle available, including panel vans, window vans and chassis cabs.
