LLOYDS TSB autolease, the UK's largest leasing company, has become a 'truly international player' after signing up to an association of vehicle leasing and fleet management companies.

The company has become one of the latest members to join the Belgian-based Fleet Synergy International (FSI) network, previously known as the Interleasing alliance. The move coincides with the appointment of new FSI network members for the Baltic States, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Spain. And it comes shortly after Lloyds TSB autolease acquired First National Vehicle Holdings to leapfrog to the top of the UK's leasing league table, as measured in the Fleet News FN50.

'We are now in a truly unique position,' said Lloyds TSB autolease managing director Nigel Stead.

'Not only does our recent acquisition make us a leader in the UK contract hire market, but joining FSI makes us a truly international player both in Europe and worldwide.

'We will continue to invest in our relationships with existing customers, but we are now able to extend our service for those UK companies looking for international fleet solutions. Similarly, we will be working with overseas organisations sourcing fleet management expertise in the UK,' he added.

FSI's international sales manager, Hans Damen, said he was delighted that Lloyds TSB autolease was joining the association.

'Lloyds TSB autolease will be an excellent fit with FSI and is set to take a leading role. As the UK's foremost brand, it brings an unparalleled understanding of the world's most advanced fleet market,' he said.

'By sharing and adapting this knowledge, FSI will continue to offer innovative global solutions that others cannot.'

FSI now works with selected partners across Europe, America, Asia and Australia and collectively manages more than 600,000 vehicles. Commenting on its new name, Damen said: 'We are far more than an international leasing company.

'While leasing is an important element of the total service offered by our members, we focus above all on cost control and providing our customers with innovative fleet solutions at both a global and local level.'

The new FSI partner for France is Autop, a subsidiary of the Athlon Group, and the new German partner is Autop Deutschland. In Spain, BBVA Finanzia AutoRenting joins FSI, while the new Portuguese member is Auto Mercantil.
