NORTHERN England was the most expensive place to buy petrol during May, while Southern England was the most expensive diesel market, according to figures produced by the AA.

They show petrol cost 76.1ppl (346ppg) in Northern England last month, compared to a national average of 75.5ppl (343ppg). Diesel was 77.4ppl (351.9ppg) in southern England, compared to the average of 76.8ppl (349ppg).
