The 'complete taxi package' for its compact van can be combined with all three of the Vaneo lines – Trend, Family and Ambiente.
It comprises light ivory paintwork, prewired fittings for installing an electronic taximetre and a state-of-the-art two-way radio as well as prewiring for a two-way radio speaker, the taxi roof sign connection, the road speed signal for the taximetre and the complete taxi emergency alarm system.
The total package costs 951.20 Euro and is available now in Germany and from July in the rest of Europe.
The manufacturer said: 'Mercedes-Benz quickly arranged for the taxi version of the Vaneo to be put through its daily paces, field tests have been running in the Berlin and Stuttgart areas since mid-December.'
DaimlerChrysler aims to sell about 1,000 of the Vaneo taxis per year.
