CAR dealer Reg Vardy has revealed record full year figures, with Vardy Contract Motoring expanding its fleet by 41%. The firm announced it has cash reserves that would enable acquisitions of up to £100 million.

The group saw a 33.5% rise in pre-tax profits to £33.5 million with turnover up 6.4% to £1,388 million, while its contract hire division went into the black for the first time, making a profit of £0.7 million compared with a loss of £1.7 million last year. It expanded its fleet from 6,471 to 9,125 units.

Reflecting trends within the market as a whole, Vardy's specialist division of premium marques – BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover – saw sales leap 35%. New car sales within the division were up 56%.
