THE Vehicle Inspectorate is trialling an Iveco Daily City Truck as its new mobile investigation unit.

The unit will operator locally to its facility in Mitcham, Surrey and will attend the scene of serious or fatal road traffic accidents to help police check whether any of the vehicles involved had faults that might have caused a crash. Inside the van is a small office and fully-equipped mobile workshop.

Jeffrey Sweeting, of the vehicle safety branch of the Vehicle Inspectorate, said: 'If the trial is completed successfully then we will be looking to provide each of our 22 enforcement areas with similarly equipped vehicles.'
