FORD has released full prices and specification for its new Fusion 'urban activity vehicle' which goes on sale in September.

Based on the Fiesta, the Fusion, like the Ka, is graded 1, 2 and 3 for trim levels and comes with either a 1.4 or 1.6-litre petrol engine as well as a 1.4TDCi common rail diesel.

The Fusion is priced from £9,995 on-the-road for the 1.4 and includes twin airbags, central locking and a leather-covered steering wheel as standard.

Prices for the 1.4 TDCi start at £10,625 while the 1.6 begins at £11,495.

Ford marketing director Peter Fleet said: 'Our philosophy was to create a design for a new compact vehicle – with a small car footprint – but taller and tougher than traditional small cars. These features coupled with the Fusion's practical interior make it ideal for the cut-and-thrust of modern urban life.'
