Tracking device aids utility fleet

A UTILITIES company has equipped its entire service vehicle fleet with tracking and panic buttons after concerns were raised about drivers' safety and vehicle theft. Severn Trent Metering Services – Integra has fitted telemetry monitoring to its 99 vehicles.

The spotonBOX system, from BOX telematics, keeps operators up-to-date with all movements.

Andy Herus, operations director for Integra said: 'Many of our employees carry out lone worker activities and a high element of driving. By being able to locate their whereabouts using spotonBOX we can identify whether a problem has occurred.' Integra has already found the system of use – with a stolen vehicle recovered with minutes, and back in operation the next day.
