Inchcape is planning to shut a main office to streamline its vehicle funding and management arms, Inchcape Fleet Solutions (IFS) and Inchcape Vehicle Contracts.

Currently, IFS is based in Portsmouth, while IVC has offices in Corby, Coventry and Norwich. Under the plan, both firms will become Inchcape Fleet Solutions, based in Portsmouth. The long-term plan is for the Norwich office to close. The firm said it was confident it could deliver improved services and a wider range of products if it operated from one site using a single brand.

Terry Bartlett, managing director of IFS, said: 'This move brings together two operations which already have strong synergies that will be able to evolve further.

'The sales teams have already been integrated into a business to business sales force with a full knowledge of the products and services available.'

Inchcape is consulting with staff in Norwich about the proposals and the move will take place if they are endorsed.
