FORD has confirmed its Streetka roadster will go into production before reaching showrooms next spring.

The production version of the two-seater will be unveiled at next week's Paris Motor Show, and although it is visually similar to the Ka hatchback, the Streetka is an all new model with a new engine and uprated suspension.

Looking identical to the original concept model, the Streetka has a simple manual folding roof, a bespoke interior and direct steering.

Performance from the 94bhp eight-valve 1.6 litre engine gives the Streetka a theoretical maximum speed of 108mph and a 0-62mph time of 12.1 seconds. Fuel consumption is 34.7mpg on the combined cycle with carbon dioxide emissions at 190g/km.

Ford will not confirm prices until nearer its on sale date, but they are expected to be between £12,000 and £14,000.

Meanwhile, Ford will unveil a performance flagship for the Ka range at Paris using the same engine to be found in the Streetka.

The Sportka will also go on sale next spring.
