Better bodies as a result of block exemption changes

FLEETS could expect better service and quicker turnarounds from body shops as changes to the block exemption mean franchise dealers face stiffer competition from repair networks, according to John Ellis, head of business development at ABS Bodyshop Services.

He said: 'Under the new rules, manufacturers and dealers can outsource servicing and repair to agents other than franchise dealers for the first time. Body repair is becoming an increasingly specialised business and outsourcing it to a specialist makes an increasing amount of sense for manufacturers.'
