USED van experts have called for fleets to think of alternative ways for improving the value of their vehicles.

This could involve changing drivers' routes and investing in training, which could lead to less damage and in turn improve the price of disposal stock.

Glass's Information Services chief commercial vehicle editor George Alexander said: 'Van fleets should take a more positive approach and this should begin with driver training. The layout of the user's vehicle yard also plays a part if vans are frequently brought close together.'

Fleet policies should give consideration to optional protective equipment that is designed to help a vehicle shrug off day-to-day bumps.
