MAZDA will unveil a high-performance concept car based on the Mazda6 at next week's Paris Motor Show, which is likely to make it into production next year.

The Mazda6 MPS (Mazda Performance Series) uses a 2.3-litre turbocharged engine which develops 276bhp and 266lb-ft of torque. It has a new version of the Mazda grille and an air intake design similar to that seen on the new RX-8, along with a redesigned front bumper, flared wheel arches and 18-inch wheels.

A production version of the car could be on sale by next year costing about £25,000.
