CAR rental company Hertz has redesigned its European internet websites in a move it says should reduce the amount of time it takes to make a reservation.

They also features a 'while you're there' section that provides more travel destination, in the form of road maps, point to point directions a d recommended safety tips and weather information.

The company also claims the sites provide easy access to more pre-reservation information, under the heading 'before you rent'.

'Details are given here on all of Hertz's rental products and services,' the company added. 'The customer will also find location and vehicle guides here. The section includes a full list of Hertz's rental qualifications and conditions. All of this information helps reduce the time customers spend making reservations.'

Other site developments include a 'customer support' area that Hertz says provides an open dialogue between the company and its customers.

Hertz Europe's vice-president for marketing and sales, Bill Jones, said: 'Responding to customer feedback, the new sites provide easy access to more pre-reservation information, reduce the time spent booking reservations and provide more travel destination information.'

Hertz's European websites include www.hertz.de for Germany, www.hertz.fr for France and www.hertz.co.uk for the United Kingdom.
