SHOP-FITTING business Blow & Scrimshaw has foiled a van thief after tracking and recovering a stolen £25,000 vehicle using Minorplanet's Vehicle Management Information (VMI) system.

It was taken from a Lincoln industrial estate and within minutes the business's management was using the system to track the van's movements. The police were contacted and the van was eventually dumped in a car park where it was recovered.

Operations manager, Andy Morley, said: 'The recovery of our vehicle has proven the value of the system. It also provides us with detailed business intelligence reports, which allow us to monitor and reduce the fuel consumption, reduce wasted man-hours and provide us with an excellent audit trail.'

The system is not only used to locate vehicles for private and business use, but it also acts as a management reporting system, allowing better management and cost reductions in business, Minorplanet claims.
