YOU won't see builders from property developer Weston Homes throwing bags of cement into the back of its latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, because the firm has spent £125,000 converting it into a sumptuous mobile hospitality and conference centre.

Robert Weston, the chairman of Weston Homes, claims his luxurious new vehicle is a 'Learjet on wheels', with an interior constructed by Vantagefield International, which makes opulent truck-derived hunting lodges for Middle Eastern clients.

The silver 3.5-tonne 316CDI Sprinter has six aircraft-style Alcantara and leather seats, 15- inch flat screen TVs, hi-fi, DVD player, telephones, fax, laptops, refrigerator, freezer, coffee machine, space for eight sets of golf clubs and a hanging rail for clothes.

Weston said: 'We considered mini coaches but decided the Sprinter, with its 156bhp engine, optional Sprintshift transmission and air conditioning would be the ideal base vehicle.

'My own car is a Mercedes-Benz S600 and since we can be on the road all day I wanted a van that offered the same high standards of engineering, comfort and quality.'

The van, based at Weston Homes' headquarters near Stansted Airport, will be used at its development sites around the south east.
