LEXUS unveiled its new RX300 sport utility vehicle at Detroit this week, with sleeker styling, improved performance and economy and air suspension.

Hi-tech features such as adaptive headlights, which calculate vehicle speed and steering angle and power-operated tailgate, will be available on the new model. It will make its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March before going on sale in the UK in May.

Suspension modifications promise improved handling, while a power boost from 201bhp to 204bhp combined with aerodynamic improvements raise the vehicle's theoretical top speed from 112mph to 124mph. Full pricing and specification will be revealed closer to its launch date.
