CAR rental company Avis Europe has signed a preferred agreement with Japan's largest international airline JAL.

Avis is offering members of JAL's frequent flyer programme (JMB) higher mileage awards than any other car rental partner.

In addition, members of JMB who make their Avis reservation via JAL's website will qualify for an online booking bonus of 200 JAL miles. This service will be introduced to JAL Japan's website in the near future, Avis said.

The move will also enhance Avis' strong presence in the Asian market, where the company already works with seven other major Asian carriers.

Dale Morley, Avis Europe's general manager for Asia, said: 'Since launching the Avis brand in Japan in 1999, with a network of over 220 locations, it is very important that we have partners who share the Avis commitment to quality and customer care.

'We are delighted to extend our successful partnership with JAL and to be in a position to offer our customers higher rewards than any of our competitors and the very latest in web-based booking tools.'
