ALFA Romeo has unveiled a revised 156 saloon and Sportwagon (pictured) with restyled front and rear by Italian designer Giorgetto Guigaro.

The new car will appear in the UK later this year with two new diesel engines, both Multijet versions of the 16-valve 1.9 JTD and 20-valve 2.4 JTD offering more power with no impact on fuel consumption and emissions.

They will join the eight-valve 1.9 JTD that joined the 156 range in March. The Unijet 1.9 JTD still offers 115bhp and 203lb-ft with CO2 emissions of 155g/km for the saloon.

However, the Multijet 1.9-litre produces 140bhp and 225lb-ft with CO2 emissions of 157g/km, and the Multijet 2.4-litre boasts 175bhp with 284lb-ft of torque and CO2 emissions of 175g/km.
