VAUXHALL'S new Vectra estate (pictured) has been unveiled, offering virtually the same load space and even more rear legroom than the Omega estate.

Sharing the same wheelbase as the Signum, the estate comes with a new feature called the FlexOrganiser which can be used to create separate compartments in the boot. The Travel Assistant, combining folding tables, a cooler, power outlets and portable DVD holder will later be available as an option.

Maximum luggage capacity is 1,850 litres, while the tailgate will be electrically operated. The engine line-up will reflect those currently offered in the Signum, including the new 2.2-litre direct injection petrol, 2.0 turbo and 3.0 V6 CDTi. Prices will be announced closer to its launch in the autumn, but upper medium estates typically attract a premium of about £1,000 over saloon and hatchback variants.
