FORD'S Mondeo 2.0 TDCi engine is to receive an upgrade to bring it in line with the unit offered in the forthcoming Jaguar X-type diesel.

Although power, performance and fuel economy figures will be the same as the current Mondeo, the 128bhp engine will have better refinement and smoother power delivery.

The Mondeo TDCi underwent minor changes last year to aid refinement and noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) suppression with different engine mounts.

However, enhancements made before the engine was ready for the X-type will be available when the revised Mondeo goes on sale on July 1.

The latest version of the Mondeo will be £250 more than the previous model, but will have cruise control across the range and other added features where cruise control was already fitted (Fleet NewsNet June 19).
