VOLVO'S senior UK management is to undergo driver training as part of the manufacturer's company- wide 'driving safely' programme.

Training will be provided by RAC Business Solutions and will include interactive laptop presentations and on-road sessions for Volvo field and fleet staff and half- day driver safety seminars for other employees.

Starting this month, sessions will focus on the underlying causes of accidents, hazard awareness and risk perception and all employees will also receive the RAC Survival Driver Safety CD-ROM.

Tom Russell, human resources manager at Volvo Car UK, said: 'We have a long relationship with RAC through its roadside assistance service so the organisation was an ideal choice to provide driver training.'

Richard Hill, head of RAC Risk Management, said the new training programme was developed in conjunction with Volvo to meet its specific risk management needs.

He added: 'Volvo is a world leader in automotive safety and takes the safety of its employees just as seriously, so we are honoured that it saw RAC as offering the best possible training.'
