MURRAY Hennessy, currently commercial director at department store chain John Lewis, is joining Avis as chief executive, replacing Mark McCafferty, who resigned last year.

He joined John Lewis in 2001 and previously held various executive positions in Europe at Tricon Global Restaurants, the operator of the Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell chains.
