THE new Mazda 3 (pictured) goes on sale this month, sporting two body styles, three petrol engines and an entry-level price of £10,650 on-the-road. Hatchback and saloon versions are available, powered by three petrol engines: a 1.4-litre 82bhp, a 1.6-litre 103bhp and a 2.0-litre 148bhp.

The entry-level 1.4-litre version has ABS brakes, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA), front side airbags and an alarm/immobiliser as standard.

The top-of-the-range 2.0-litre Sport model at £15,500 comes with xenon headlamps, sports trim and body styling kit alongside 17-inch alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers, automatic lights and a back-lit dashboard.

Mazda will also be offering a 1.6-litre 107bhp diesel version from June and a 1.6 88bhp diesel from March 2005. A four-speed automatic version will also be available from June.
