Honda Civic – 2004 model year

Dealers are paying big premiums for the latest versions of the Civic, more of which went on sale at the end of last year. In some cases they are paying more than £1,000 more than for an equivalent 2003 model

Mercedes-Benz S-class – pre 2003 model year

Normally a class benchmark for residual values, the pre-2003 model S-class can find the going tough without factory-fitted satellite navigation, now a must for luxury cars

Nissan Terrano

The Terrano is very much an old-school 4x4 and is beginning to suffer against the likes of the X-trail. Price-led customers who need a workhorse will still buy one, but an X-trail will fetch £1,500 more at auction

Hyundai Coupe

The Coupe is not doing badly – as long as you have the right colour. The yellow car introduced as a special edition earlier this year is not doing as well as others, and solid colours are less desirable than metallics
