MITSUBISHI has unveiled the production-ready high-performance version of the new Colt as well as the ultimate version of the Lancer Evo VIII.

The 150bhp Colt CZT will be built in Japan – unlike other European versions of the car – and launched alongside other three-door Colt models in February.

The CZT’s 1.5-litre engine will thrust the car from 0-62mph in about eight seconds and offers a maximum speed of 130mph.

The three-door range is expected to start from £8,000 with the CZT expected to be prices at less than £13,000.

At the other end of the scale, the Lancer Evolution VIII FQ-400 boasts 202bhp per litre from its 405bhp engine, will accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 175mph. There will be a limited run of just 100 priced at £46,999 on-the-road.
