HYUNDAI has unveiled its new Tucson sports utility vehicle (pictured), which will go on sale in the UK this autumn.

Revealed at the Chicago Auto Show, the Tucson fits into the Hyundai range below the Santa Fe and Terracan and uses a modified version of the existing Coupe platform.

Pitched against the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Land Rover Freelander and Nissan X-trail, the Tucson will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, as well as four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive versions.

The four-wheel drive model runs in front-wheel drive until it detects a loss of traction, and permanent four-wheel drive can be selected at up to 18mph. Prices are expected to start at about £15,000.
