The latest appointments in the fleet industry.

  • HITACHI Capital Vehicle Solutions has appointed a new head of risk, Omar Ripon. He joins from Sterling Insurance Group, where he was group risk manager for two years. Previous to that, he was a business consultant with the Export Credits Guarantee Department – linked to the UK Treasury.
    Head of Risk is a newly-created position at Hitachi Capital and Ripon will be working closely with Martyn Gallop, operations director at Hitachi Capital.

  • MAUREEN Ball has joined driver-training provider Driving Services as fleet business manager. She has several years' industry experience, including promotion and recruitment of adults to services in the further education sector and the management of projects in the public and private sector.

  • Robert Barris has been appointed managing director for SYUK Cars, importer of SsangYong vehicles. He replaces Peter Ellis, who first conceived the idea of SYUK Cars a year ago and now takes on the role of deputy chairman. Barris has considerable experience within the UK motor and related finance industries, and previously worked with Tom Martin (SYUK's marketing director and co-founder) on a number of occasions, most recently while setting up Citroen Contract Motoring.

  • Total Accident Management, a division of Helphire Group, has appointed Ian Fendt as business development manager. Fendt had previously been business development manager for Aon Motor Accident Management and Natwest Vehicle Solutions, specialising in fleet funding.

  • Shaun Price, previously with Lex Vehicle Leasing, Fleet Management Services, First National and Manheim, has set up his own business – Corporate Inspiration. It will offer training services, business speaking and live event production.

  • THRIFTY Car Rental has announced the appointment of Nick Milner as director of licensee locations across the country. The new role has been created as part of Thrifty's management expansion plan for 2004 and allows former operations director Mark Brandom to oversee the development and expansion of the company's commercial division. Milner has moved to Thrifty head office after nine years as licensee at Portsmouth.

  • Mondial has appointed Richard Bush to the newly-created position of general manager technical services. Reporting to Mike Webb, CEO, Bush will be responsible for the delivery of all aspects of Mondial's services at the roadside.
