COMMUNICATIONS giant BT is putting more than 1,500 of its high-risk drivers through extensive driver training in one of the biggest programmes of its type ever undertaken in the fleet industry.

High-risk drivers were selected by online assessments, historic records or involvement in a single costly accident.

The courses, provided by driver training group IAM Fleet, will include both workshops and practical sessions.

Dave Wallington, group safety adviser at British Telecom, said: 'BT regards the effective management of occupational road risk as one of its most important safety objectives.
