A SIMPLE idea to reduce the number of road casualties in the UK by making roadside posts less dangerous has been recognised with a national award.

Lattix posts are designed to be forgiving when struck by vehicles travelling at more than 50mph, simply breaking away from the ground, ensuring damage to vehicles and passengers is much less severe.
They were brought to the UK by Juralco and SignPost Solutions, who were both given an AA Award at a ceremony last week. Research showed that 300 people in the UK were killed or seriously injured in collisions with traffic signs and signal posts.
The posts have been installed in more than 300 locations in the UK and Ireland.
