DIGITAL broadcaster BSkyB has awarded Vauxhall a multi-million pound contract for 900 Vivaro vans.

They will be used to help deliver and install its minidishes and digiboxes around the country.

It has opted for the diesel-driven 2700 1.9Di SWB Vivaro after competitive tenders. The vehicles will be modified to meet BSkyB's specification with extra racking and roof racks to carry satellite dishes, cabling and tools. Once the work has been carried out, the vans will be delivered directly to BSkyB drivers.

BSkyB fleet manager Mark Henderson said: 'We selected the Vauxhall Vivaro after a competitive tender process because we believe it matches closely our business needs.'

Vauxhall fleet director Maurice Howkins said: 'Previously only the top luxury car manufacturers might have considered personal delivery to their new owners. Vauxhall is delighted to break that mould and provide a seamless plant-to-driver service.

'We are extremely pleased to have secured this major contract and look forward to helping deliver digital satellite TV to the nation's homes.'

The new Vivaros are being supplied on contract hire for three years by Swindon-based Arval PHH.
