AN AFTERMARKET distributor has outsourced the accident management of its 90-strong fleet in a bid to streamline costs.

Doncaster-based SEL- Imperial has agreed a deal with Elite Incident Management which will provide a range of services including vehicle repairs.

Kevin Shipton, chief executive officer at SEL-Imperial, said: 'It is essential that we control the day-to-day management of our fleet to the highest standards.

'The best way of doing this is to outsource this to Elite Incident Management which has the expertise, trained staff and knowledge to effectively handle this on our behalf.

'The cost of vehicle downtime is greater than the accident damage itself, so there is a greater focus on this key area.

'This is particularly prominent in our commercial vehicle market where the load of the vehicle can be worth a considerable sum.'

Elite will focus on reducing the downtime across SEL-Imperial's delivery fleet which includes Iveco Dailys, Fiat Ducatos, Ford Transits and Toyota Hi-Aces.
