JAPANESE car manufacturer Daihatsu has seen sales of its compact city cars increase compared with last year.

March 2004 sales were up by 23% compared with March 2003, with first quarter sales across Daihatsu up 37%.

The group's dealer network has also grown with 12 new dealerships opened during the first three months of 2004. It is planning two more dealerships within the next two months bringing its total to 104.
