Grandis set for take-off

MITSUBISHI'S new Grandis MPV (pictured) will go on sale in July, priced from £18,499, following its UK debut at next month's Motor Show Live in Birmingham.

Available initially with a 2.4-litre petrol engine developing 165bhp, a 2.0-litre turbodiesel will follow in 2005.

The Grandis features seven seats with Mitsubishi's 'Hide and Seat' concept, where the rear row of seats can be individually folded away into the floor – a unique feature in the full-size MPV sector.

Jim Tyrrell, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors UK, said: 'The Grandis will be the first MPV that customers will buy because they want to, rather than because they have to.

'We have planned 2,000 sales in its first full year on the market. However, if the reaction of our dealer network is anything to go by, we could well see this figure increase.'
