Volkswagen's two luxury cars – the Phaeton and the Touareg – have made their auction debuts.

The sale was held in the grounds of Oulton Hall in Leeds, with around 40 Volkswagen luxury car retailers attending.

There were about 40 cars under the hammer – mostly demonstrators or press fleets vehicles, with Touareg reportedly very strong, a 53-plate Touareg 2.5 TDI selling for 96% of its original list price.

Prices for the Phaeton, a car some disposals commentators have claimed will suffer massive depreciation, were not released.
