ZENITH Vehicle Contracts has introduced a residual value system that it claims can save fleets up to £300,000.

The Pointestimate system has been developed specifically for contract hire and leasing companies, analysing fleet data, showing how and when surpluses or losses occur. Zenith says an improvement of 1% in disposal values on a fleet of 5,000 can save up to £300,000.

Zenith recently used the system during a management buy-out and Andrew Cope, Zenith's managing director, believes it made the process simpler. He said: 'The buy-out could have been far more complex without Pointestimate. We were able to quickly establish the asset position of the organisation and map out our residual value risk exposure over the coming few years.

'It was invaluable in giving our backers the confidence they needed, and early on gave us a useful insight into the impact the system could have on our business longer term.'

Pointestimate is able to produce reports and business reviews and Zenith will benchmark its own residual value trends against CAP and Glass's.
