IF the internet was designed to save time and help people find information easily, then the Lloyds TSB autolease website is an ideal example.

It provides information about the services available from Britain's biggest contract hire and leasing provider, Lloyds TSB autolease, which won the 2004 Fleet News Award in the Best Contract Hire/Fleet Management Company category, sponsored by Iveco.

Companies have two options when they create a website – aim to have all the bells and whistles with instant updates and constantly changing content, or go for the more simple option of putting important information on the site, which is easy to maintain, but can be updated regularly.

Lloyds TSB autolease has gone for the latter, offering a site which features brief summaries of what the company can do for businesses without being distracted by flashy graphics and logos.

A simple menu box at the top of the screen offers simple choices, including 'customer options', 'home', 'about us', 'contact us', 'products and solutions', 'running a fleet' and 'why choose us'.

There is also a scrolling news box and a quick link to a pertinent Duty of Care guide.

Point the mouse at one of the links and a drop-down box of options is revealed. Clicking on each one provides a few brief paragraphs on products or services.

Registered customers can also use ServiceTrak, a maintenance and repair booking service for drivers.

There are also online versions of the company's customer newsletter and a variety of case studies, providing real world examples of what it has done for other fleets.
