THE McLaren Mercedes-Benz team may well be getting beaten by Ferrari, BAR, Williams and pretty much everyone else in Formula One at the moment, but at least the leasing arm of the DaimlerChrysler empire is filling the empty spaces in the trophy cabinet.

DaimlerChrysler Services Fleet Management won the third event in the 2004 Kwik-Fit Fleet National Karting Challenge in association with Fleet News.

Staged at Whilton Mill near Daventry, the team completed 182 laps of the circuit in two hours to win by an impressive 56 seconds from pre-race favourites Bank of Scotland Vehicle Management.

Both go into the final at the Milton Keynes Daytona circuit in June.

Teams from Marshall Leasing, DaimlerChrysler Services Fleet Management, ALD Automotive, CLM Fleet Management, National Car Rental, Bank of Scotland Vehicle Management, Pendragon Contracts and Karma Vehicle Contracts competed in the race, with National Car Rental chalking up the fastest lap of the night in a time of 31.03 seconds.
