MORE than 100 fleet managers from central and eastern Europe attended a conference in Poland to discuss the benefits of an enlarged EU.

Delegates at the three-day International Fleet Sector Conference heard a series of briefings on topics including the development of fleet markets in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and the former Soviet Union. UK fleet software specialist cfc solutions was represented at the event by major accounts sales manager Andy Leech.

He said: 'The rate at which these markets are developing is pretty rapid. I visited Poland last year and was surprised by the professionalism of fleet managers here but things have moved on even since then.'

He said opportunities for fleets in the UK would arise from the inclusion of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus and Malta in the EU.

Leech said: 'These are quite small fleet markets but they are growing quickly and have a need for fleet management skills and services at all levels.

'There is no indication that these fleet markets will suddenly explode in size but there are definite and worthwhile opportunities here for experienced fleet companies and individuals.'
